Terms of Service
Last updated: August 3, 2026
1. Welcome to Pixelboop
Pixelboop is a music creation app that makes it easy to touch pixels and make music. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pixelboop app, website, and community features operated by Audiolux ("we", "us", "our").
By using Pixelboop, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. Community Jams & Creative Commons
2.1 What Are Community Jams?
Community Jams are musical patterns ("jams") that users share publicly through Pixelboop. Jams consist of pattern data — note sequences, timing, and musical configurations — stored in our proprietary .pbjam format.
2.2 Creative Commons Zero (CC0) License
All Community Jams are shared under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) public domain dedication.
When you upload a jam to the Community, you dedicate it to the public domain. This means:
- Anyone can use it — for any purpose, including commercial use
- No attribution required — though we encourage crediting creators
- No restrictions — others can remix, transform, and build upon your work
- Irrevocable — once shared as CC0, this cannot be undone
We believe in building a creative commons where musical ideas flow freely. Your contribution helps everyone learn and create.
2.3 Forking & Derivatives
You may "fork" (copy and modify) any Community Jam. Forked jams are also CC0. We track fork history for attribution purposes, but this is informational only — CC0 does not require attribution.
2.4 What You Keep
While pattern data is CC0, you retain full ownership of any audio recordings you create:
- MIDI recordings: When you route Pixelboop's MIDI output to your own instruments and record audio, that recording is 100% yours.
- Your sound design: The synths, effects, and production you add are yours.
- Your performances: How you play and arrange your music is yours.
2.5 Pixelboop Pro (Coming Soon)
Pixelboop Pro subscribers will have additional options:
- Private jams: Keep your work private, not shared to Community
- Custom licensing: Choose CC-BY or All Rights Reserved for your jams
- Audio export: Export stems and mixes directly from the app
- Private jam rooms: Collaborate with invited members only
3. Your Content & Conduct
3.1 Your Representations
By uploading content, you represent that:
- You created the content or have the right to share it
- The content doesn't infringe anyone else's rights
- You understand and accept that Community Jams are CC0
3.2 Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that infringes copyrights or other rights
- Spam, harass, or abuse the service or other users
- Attempt to reverse engineer or exploit the service
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
3.3 Content Removal
You can delete your jams from the Community. However, forks created by others before deletion will remain (they are independent works under CC0).
4. The Community Forum
The forum at pixelboop.com/forum is a public space on the website. It is not part of the iOS app. These rules apply to it in addition to section 3.
4.1 Ages 13 and up
You must be 13 or older to post or reply. Reading is open to anyone. You confirm your age before your first post. If we learn a poster is under 13, we'll remove the post and revoke their access.
4.2 What you may not post
In addition to section 3.2, you agree not to post:
- Anyone's personal information, including your own — no addresses, phone numbers, school names, or private messages
- Sexual content, or any content sexualising a minor
- Threats, hate speech, or harassment of any person or group
- Content that promotes self-harm, violence, or illegal activity
- Malware, phishing links, scams, or advertising
- Impersonation of another person, or of PixelBoop or Audiolux
4.3 Text only
The forum accepts text. You cannot upload images, audio, or files. YouTube links are rendered as a player; you're responsible for what you link to.
4.4 Your posts, and the licence you give us
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant Audiolux a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute your post as part of the forum, and to quote it when discussing PixelBoop (for example, when we describe a bug you reported). You can withdraw this by asking us to remove the post.
Unlike Community Jams, forum posts are not CC0. They stay yours.
4.5 Reporting, removal, and suspension
Every post has a Report link, available to any reader. Reports go to us privately. We aim to review reports within 24 hours, and we may remove any post that breaks these terms, with or without a report. When we remove a post, a marker stays in its place so the removal is visible rather than silent.
We may revoke forum access for repeated or serious violations. Because the forum has no accounts, this means revoking the browser pass described in our Privacy Policy.
To report content or appeal a removal, use the Report link or email hello@pixelboop.com. Tell us which post and why; we'll reply with our decision.
4.6 We don't pre-screen
Posts appear immediately and are not reviewed before publication. Opinions in the forum are those of the people who wrote them, not of Audiolux. We are not responsible for content posted by others, though we will act on it when it breaks these terms.
5. Copyright & DMCA
5.1 Respect for Intellectual Property
We respect intellectual property rights. Musical patterns may be independently created by multiple people. Simple or common patterns are not copyrightable. We don't pre-screen content for copyright issues.
5.2 DMCA Takedown
If you believe your copyrighted work has been infringed, contact our designated agent at:
Email: dmca@pixelboop.com
Address: Audiolux, Attn: DMCA Agent, Portland, OR
Please include: identification of the copyrighted work, identification of the infringing content, your contact information, and a statement of good faith belief.
6. Disclaimers
6.1 No Warranty
Pixelboop is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee uninterrupted service or that content will always be available.
6.2 Pattern Similarity
You acknowledge that musical patterns may be similar to existing works by coincidence. Simple patterns (common chord progressions, basic rhythms) are not copyrightable. Pixelboop does not verify the originality of Community Jams.
6.3 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Audiolux shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Pixelboop.
7. Privacy
Pixelboop collects minimal data. See our Privacy Policy for details. The short version: we don't sell your data, we don't track you across the web, and we only collect what's needed to run the service.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll notify users of significant changes through the app or website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
